Tom Costopoulos

Tom Costopoulos - Chairman

Tom has an extensive background in banking and business enterprise.

Previous roles have included, senior executive leadership positions in Corporate Banking and Business Banking segments with a major Australian bank. 

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Tom’s experience covers roles in the mining & resources sector, retail, accounting, investment & business banking. Tom has also successfully completed a retail & wholesale food start up enterprise.

Tom is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Business degree and Graduate Diploma in Finance & Banking. He completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, Boston, USA in 2008. Tom is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Tom has a strong passion for local community groups and actively supports the education & mentoring of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. He has successfully raised substantial funds to assist not for profit organisations through the formation of key business partnerships.

After many years as a senior business leader, Angela believes that education and learning is the lifelong process of acquiring vital skills and tools to build a sustainable, successful and prosperous life.

In 2016, Angela began a new position with Wheelton Philanthropy. With a desire to educate the broader community about the possibilities and opportunities in all areas of Philanthropy, Wheelton Philanthropy looks at key trends around the Globe and seeks to spread the message of positive and engaged Philanthropy for families and the broader community. 

Angela is very proud to support Life Education Victoria - an organisation that values education and learning.

Rod Collins APM OAM

Rod joined the Life Education Victoria Board in 2015 having previously spent two years with the LEV Western Region Committee. Rod had a successful career with Victoria Police including time as Head of the Homicide Squad and as the State Emergency Response Officer. Rod’s career positions provided him an in-depth knowledge in relation to governance and other corporate matters. He also has extensive experience on not for profit boards joining the Board of Variety the Children’s Charity in 1999 and remaining for 17 years, including three years as their Chairperson, he continues to be a volunteer with them. Rod also serves on the St John Ambulance Victoria Board as a Director and has done so this 2006. As well as Board positions he is active within his community spending sixteen years as the Chairperson of his local  Community and Sporting Centre as well as being a Member of the Wyndham City Advisory Group. Rod was awarded the Australia Police Medal for his services to policing in June 2004 and the Order of Australia Medal in 2016 for his services to Children’s Charities.

Lindsay Beer joined the Board of LEV in 2008 and is founder and owner of Chatsworth Constructions, Roof Distributors and Majon Kitchens, all very successful Building Service Providers covering all aspects of residential and commercial building. The success of Chatsworth Constructions is due primarily to the skill and extensive industry acumen of Lindsay, being both a Master Builder and Master Plumber.

Lindsay has a special passion for water skiing and, through his love of water sports, his passion and instinctive leadership qualities have led him to an increased involvement in the water sports arena where he was voted to President of the Victorian Water Ski Association (VWSA). He is also the current Director and Life Member of the Victorian Water Ski Association. 

As a Director of Moomba Masters, Lindsay has dedicated over thirty years of his time to children's waterskiing education and training and he also founded the Lake Cooper Training School of Waterskiing.

Lindsay's has raised over $500,000 single handedly with Variety, the Children’s Charity, over the past seven years through fundraising with his Bash car, a car rally touring throughout outback Australia to raise money for underprivileged children. Lindsay is also Director of Bali Children Foundation, sponsoring over two hundred children in orphanages throughout Bali.

Lindsay's vision is to proactively change the lives of underprivileged children and their families.

 Sylvia GuidaraSyliva

Sylvia is an experienced educator who specialises in digital learning and development. Her focus is on bridging the gap between theory and practice, and promoting approaches to ensure the effective use of digital technologies. With wide ranging expertise gained as an online learning manager, digital curriculum writer and classroom teacher, she understands the challenges facing 21 st century educators.

In 2008, Sylvia created digimuve , a consultancy to meet an emerging need for informed, practical support and guidance for educators to successfully navigate the digital age.

She has collaborated with numerous education and youth focussed organisations across sectors in Australia and Internationally to create effective approaches to learning, and achieve meaningful outcomes for young people. She was a member of the Foundation for Young Australians, Young Social Pioneers Advisory Board from 2008 – 2014.

Sylvia’s passion for education coupled with her knowledge of 21st century learning have
driven her to support educators to implement new approaches and opportunities for change. 


PirchAndrew Pirchan

Andrew joins the Life Education Victorian Board after having a long direct and indirect involvement with the organisation over the past 13 years.  An active member of the Life Education Advisory Board for the last two years, he brings a solid and existing knowledge of the organisation to our Board.

As General Manager of Box Hill Hawks Football Club from 2001 to 2010, Andrew actively supported our organisation on game days and included the club in our Ocsober campaigns from the start.

Andrew currently holds the position of Senior Corporate Account Manager with Etihad Stadium where his advanced relationship skills have brought him great success in that very tough sporting market.  He has also enabled Life Education to be one of Etihad's charities of choice.

Married with three young children, Andrew has actively promoted the Life Education programs to his children’s schools.  He joined the Board in November 2014


Doug-RoweDoug Rowe

Douglas Rowe’s career in recycling commenced in 1977 at his family’s business in Victoria. Having gained several years’ experience in the metals industry, he undertook a management role with the Poseidon Group of Companies before moving to the mining, mineral and metal oxide area of business.

Douglas was the founder of Southern Rocycling, the metal and plastic recycling business in 1992, and Ecocycle Industries, the silver and mercury recycling facilities in 1996. The businesses were sold in 2007 and in early 2008 Douglas became the CEO of this public listed company before leaving in May 2010.

He started Recycal in late 2010 and took over CMA Ecocycle, his old silver and mercury business in late 2013. The businesses have sites in all Capital Cities and his family is heavily involved in the business with him.

Douglas spends many hours each week working with those less fortunate and is involved in a number of charities and mentoring programs.

Doug joined the Board in November 2014.
